Terms of Use
1. Using the site
You may read, link to and share the site for personal, educational or business-evaluation purposes. Do not use the site in a way that interferes with it or with other people's use of it, and do not attempt to gain access to parts of it that are not public.
2. Content and intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the text, design, code, generated visuals and sound on this site belong to Tiaki Mai Rā or are used with permission. Project names such as Guardians of Matariki, KINsafe, Tiaki, Nearby Stock and WAGA refer to our own products and research. Content that relates to Māori knowledge, stories and taonga is presented with care under kaupapa Māori values; it is not to be copied, adapted or commercialised without our written agreement and the agreement of the people and iwi it belongs to.
3. The project journeys
The journey pages describe design decisions as they were made. They are a record of process, not a specification, warranty or promise about any product. Details may change as the work continues.
4. Links to other sites
The site links to external pages (for example LinkedIn, GitHub, YouTube and the AUT research repository). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.
5. No warranty and limitation of liability
The site is provided as is. We take care to keep it accurate and working, but we do not guarantee that it is error-free, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose. To the extent New Zealand law allows, Tiaki Mai Rā is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply.
6. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and this statement; the date at the top shows the current version. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
Privacy Statement
This statement explains what personal information the site collects and what we do with it, in line with the Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
- Contact form. When you send a message through the site, we receive the name, email address and message you type. We collect this so we can reply to you, and for no other purpose.
- Preferences stored in your browser. The site remembers two settings on your own device: whether sound is on, and whether calm motion is on. These are stored with your browser's local storage, not sent to us, and you can clear them at any time through your browser settings.
- Nothing else. The site does not use analytics, advertising, tracking cookies or social media pixels.
Who handles it
- Messages from the contact form are delivered by Formspree (Formspree, Inc., United States), which stores a copy of each submission so it can be delivered to our inbox. Formspree's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
- The site is hosted by Netlify (Netlify, Inc., United States). Like any web host, Netlify processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to serve the pages; we do not use this information to identify you.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your browser's request for the font files.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages for as long as needed to respond and to keep a record of the conversation, then delete them. We do not sell or share your information with anyone else, except where the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email peresethomas649@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Children
The site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
